Multi-Peril Crop Insurance — Know Your Coverage Options

Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) is the foundation of most federal crop coverage, protecting against weather-related losses that can impact crop health and reduce yields. Within MPCI, you’ll choose between Yield Protection (YP) and Revenue Protection (RP). Yield Protection focuses on production losses when your actual yield falls below your guaranteed amount, while Revenue Protection safeguards both yield and market price changes, helping protect your overall income. We’ll help you compare these options and choose the coverage that best aligns with your operation and risk tolerance.

Crop-Hail Insurance — Targeted Protection When Storms Strike

While federal crop insurance covers a broad range of risks, crop-hail insurance addresses a key gap by protecting against fast-moving, localized threats like hail, fire, and wind. It can be purchased as a standalone policy or used alongside your federal coverage to help cover losses that Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) may not fully address.

Unlike federal programs, crop-hail policies are privately purchased and can be added at any time during the growing season. Coverage is applied on an acre-by-acre basis, giving you the flexibility to insure the fields that face the highest risk or carry the most value.

Sign-Up Deadlines Matter

Federal crop insurance comes with strict sign-up deadlines that vary by crop and county. Missing one can leave you exposed for the entire season. Our team tracks these timelines closely and reaches out in advance to keep you on schedule.
